About Nane Ghat:
This trek is basically a PASS, in ancient times this was the nearest route to descend down to KONKAN(Kalyan port) from PLATEAU(Deccan),this pass was mainly used by traders who used to frequent this rout. Near the top one beautiful cave is situated with few water cisterns, there is also a huge pot located on top plateau just at the entrance of the way down to caves, it is said that it used to be a JAKAT NAKA( Toll), and every trader was supposed to put SWARNA MOHOR( Gold coin) in the pot to gain access to the road for descending down. The inscriptions in the caves indicate that they are the work of Satavahana rulers who came into prominence after the fall of the Mauryan empire.
