Dear Friends we invite you all for Camping at Rajmachi on 12 & 13 dec 2015   Type: Hill Fort Height: 3600 Feet above MSL (Approx) Grade: Easy Range: Karjat Trek Leader : Nishant Seth.   Rajmachi (Udhewadi) is a small village in the rugged mountains of Sahyadri in India. The fortification at Rajmachi consists of two forts , namely Shrivardhan fort and Manaranjan Fort. Rajmachi Fort is a popular trekking destination. It is a very famous fort located near two famous hills of Maharashtra, Lonavala and Khanadala. Historically, Rajmachi fort was a strategic fort to control Borghat(ghat between Khopoli and Khandala on Mumbai-Pune route) which was a historical trade route.   Some Information about the Fort:   Rajmachi can be reached by 2 ways, the tough route is from Kondivade village near Karjat and it involves climb-up of about 2000 feet. The other route is from Lonavala, which is almost a plain walk of about 15 km. Opposite to Kalbhairavnath Temple, there is another fort called Shreevardhan. The fort has lots of secret tunnels leading to battlements. There is a place called Manranjan behind the temple that gives one a nice view of the plains. Kal Bhairava temple is situated in the col between Shrivardhan and Manaranjan. Local inhabitants worship Kal Bhairava even today. The Buddhist caves on the western slope of Rajmachi plateau (at present known as Kondhane caves) were carved in the period around 200 BC. The existence of these ancient caves indicates that Rajmachi had been identified as an important place right from the Buddhist period.   The itinerary for trek is:   Meeting at : 8:00 am at Karjat Station   New Train Timing (Please Note Train Timings have changed from Saturday 15th Nov 2014) This is a Fast train till Kalyan   CST – Karjat Fast Local CST – 06:10 am Byculla – 06:18 am Dadar – 06:24 am Kurla – 06:31 am Ghatkopar – 6:35 am Thane – 6:50 am Dombivali – 7:02 am Kalyan – 7:10 am Badlapur – 07:27 am Karjat – 08:00 am   (If you miss the train you miss the tre... Dear Friends we invite you all for Trek to Mount Kalsubai highest peak of Maharashtra with Mumbairangers on 13 dec 2015 Leaving sat 12 dec   Kalsubai Peak is the highest peak (1646 meters) of the Sahyadris on the border of Igatpuri Taluka, Nashik district and Akole Taluka, of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. 'Kalsubai' temple is located at the top most peak of Sahyadri mountain range of Maharastra. The main route starts from the village of Bari which is about six km from Bhandardara. The main route to the temple is at small climbing slope . It usually takes three hours to reach the top from Bari. There small huts in this area who could be very helpful in case of any emergency. There are three iron ladders along this route. There is a well near the last iron ladder as one approaches the top but the water is not potable during the summer. The rest of the route is without water, so it is best to fill water bottles in Bari. It is an easy hike, but parts of it are quite steep. Reptiles like lizards and snakes could be spotted sun-bathing during winter mornings near the ladders. The vastly spread out backwaters of Bhandardara attracts ones attention from the top. To the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej, Harihargad, Brahmagiri, Anjaneri, Ghargad, Bahula, Tringalwadi, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha, Vishramgad, Bitangad, to the west Alang, Madangad, Kulang, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad, Ghanchakkar, Harishchandragad can be seen.
