Here is the most exciting and popular Trek of this year 2016 .............! It's time to take break from our day-to-day hectic schedule, especially at the end of another financial year. Everybody has different hobbies like photography, adventure, being in nature etc. Hence, most of us found a common solution to it and it is this trekking through the ancient & fierce rocks of Sahyadri Mountains and huge mountain forts depicting historical glory of Maharashtra Trans Sahyadri Trek - 7 Feb to 13 Feb 2016 Kulangad - Madangad - Alangad - Ratangad - Katrabai Top - Ajoba - Kaladgad - Harishchandragad (covered maximum forts between Igatpuri (Nasik region) and Khireshwar (Malshej Ghat region). Oganised by "ISOLATION ZONE" Departure from Mumbai/Pune on 7th Feb night . Return on 13th Feb night. Grade : Tough Age Limit : Above 18 years Fee : Rs 6900/- including Travelling, food, equipment, accidental insurance of 3 lakhs and expertise. Sondai Fort, KarjatGrade: EasyHeight: Appx. 1200 ft.A Very less known small fort near Karjat. The fort with unknown History stands tall near Karjat with a small Temple of Goddess Sondai, atop. There are 2 water cisterns on the way to top of the fort.Two missing steps in the rock makes one to climb a small patch of 15 feet but proper hand holds and foot steps are available and that makes it easy even in monsoon. Mountrek India Thrilling Alang-Madan Trek on 27-28th February 2016. General information: Alang The beautiful Alang Fort lies in the Nashik region. Top of the fort is huge plateau. There are two caves on the fort for staying and 11 water cisterns arranged in a Cascade formation & a dilapidated storage room.   Madan Madangad is considered to be one of the most difficult forts to climb among all the forts in the Sahyadris. The area of the fort is quite small as compared to Alang and Kulang, its adjoining forts. There are only two water tanks on top of the fort. The area visible from the top of the fort is quite scenic. Mountrek India Valentine Special  Trek to Matheran via Garbett Plateau on 14th February 2016, Sunday.   Little Info About The Trek Type: Hill Height: 2625 Feet above MSL (Approx) Grade: Medium District: Raigad Range: Matheran Base Village: Diksal Matheran (Unpolluted Hill-Station of Maharashtra)   The climate of Matheran is very cool. The most unforgettable things about Matheran are deep forest and the waterfalls nearby, especially in rainy season. The beauty of the hill station gets doubled in monsoon. Matheran is truly 'The Best Hill Station in Maharashtra.   Matheran is most splendid hill station in Maharashtra; it covers an area of 8 square kilometers in Sahyadris. This lovely spot was discovered in 1850 by Hugh Poyntz Malet, the collector of Thane district. Mountrek India One Day Trek to Naneghat on Sunday, 7th February 2016 . Leaving on Saturday Night, 6th Feb 2016.   Little Info About The Event : Naneghat Height: 2750 feet (Approx.) Base Village: Vaishakhare Difficulty Level: Easy Endurance Level: Medium Region :Malshej   Naneghat Pass - This sheer cliff is a well know landmark, very clearly visible from Konkan region as you pass on your way from Kalyan towards Malshej. The walls of this pass jut out from the main range and hence command a magnificent view of the great bend in the Sahyadri. This is a pass, which once in history, enjoyed prime importance. The inscriptions, the steps, the rock-cut rest houses, and the cisterns all point out the historic fact that this route was frequently used as far back as the 1st century B.C. The Naneghat area and the caves are now very popular due to an easy access from Malshej ghat road.     Serving as a trade route for the transport between markets of Kalyan, Nalasopara (Konkan) and Junnar (Plateau) since the times of  Satvahanas, this pass today offers you one of the most enjoyable treks in the vicinity of Mumbai NaneGhat is situated at about 55 Km from Kalyan. One can reach the base village Vaishakare by boarding the state transport bus passing through MalshejGhat. From Vaishakare it's about 1/2 a hour walk along the road to MalshejGhat to reach the divergence for NaneGhat. Now there is board indicating the divergence so there will be no difficulty in finding the divergence. Mountrek India Trek to Gorakhgad Fort on Sunday, 31st January 2016. Some Information about the Fort: Place: Gorakhgad fort Height: 2137 ft Base Village: Dehri District: Thane Difficulty Level: Medium (Rock patches) Endurance Level: Medium Gorakhgad is a fort which can be done easily in a day, both from Mumbai and Pune. Though not famous for any historical events, Gorakhgad attracts trekkers due to its inviting pinnacles, which offer good opportunities for rock-climbing. This region of Gorakhgad and Machchindragad has a dense forest cover. Fort Gorakhgad is quite small in size. It was having strategic importance during the reign of Shahaji Raje. However, no major battle is recorded to have taken place here. It was used in Shivaji's era to patrol the nearby region and was used as a stopover station during the journey to Junnar via Naneghat. Though small in size, there is enough availability water and a lot of space for accommodation. The fort gets its name from Saint Gorakhnath, who performed his "Sadhana" in this place.   The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:   Saturday, 30th January 2016   Meeting Point: Kayan Railway Station West Side Ticket Counter at 11.00 Pm on  30th January 2016.  LAKE SIDE CAMPING NEAR MALSHEJ GHAT, SHIVNERI FORT & OZAR GANESH DARSHAN On  13th –14th Feb.  2016   SHIVNERI FORT Shivneri Fort is a 17th-century military fortification located near Junnar. It is the birthplace of ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj( छत्रपतीशिवाजीमहाराज ), the founder of Maratha Empire Shahaji, ChatrapatiShivaji's father, was a general in the army of the Adil Shah, Sultan of Bijapur. He was concerned for the safety of his wife Jijabai during her pregnancy as there was constant warfare going on. He therefore moved his family to Shivneri fort. Shivneri is a highly defensible location, with steep rocks on four sides and a strongly built citadel. ChhatrapatiShivaji was born at the fort on 19 February 1630, and spent his childhood there.he got his name SHIVBA here. Inside the fort is a small temple dedicated to the goddess Shivai Devi, after whom Shivaji was named.There are statues of Jijabai and young Shivaji. At the centre of the fort is a water pond which is called 'BadamiTalav'. To the South of 'BadamiTalav' are the statues Jijabai and a young Shivaji.
