Workshop to enroll volunteers for Marine Turtle Conservation

Date: Sunday, 12th October 2008
Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Venue: Aarti Wagh High School, Paar Naka, Vasai (West)

Do you know that Marine Turtles come for nesting to the coastal areas near Mumbai?
Do you know that all Marine Turtles are globally threatened?
Are you willing to commit your time and energy for field work?

Here is your chance:
Sahyadri Nisarga Mitra (SNM) is organizing a workshop to enroll volunteers for marine Turtle Conservation.

SNM is a leading NGO working in Nature Conservation since 1992. Their work in marine Turtle Conservation has resulted in several turtle nests being protected along the coast of Maharashtra.
Thousands of hatchlings have been released safely into the sea in the last 6 years.

Bhau Katdare will conduct this workshop to demonstrate conservation related activities & training the volunteers so as to expand the Marine Turtle Conservation work to the beaches North of Mumbai.

In the workshop we hope to create a team of dedicated volunteers and make a plan of field work from November '08 to May '09 – this being the breeding season of Marine Turtles.
