Youngsterz Trek to Bhimashankar on 27-28th sept 08

Hi friends,

we at Youngsterz are planning for the trek that was most awaited by many of our fellow trekkers. Before it stops raining, we have decided to trek to the beautiful Bhimashankar via ganesh ghat, on 27th and 28th of this month.

Bhimashankar: There are a total 12 Jyotirlingas in India, one of them is at Bhimashankar.
On getting to the top, the main attraction is the temple of lord Shiva.
The temple is built out of stone in the Hemadipant style, there is a magnificent and majestic Bell made out of Metal which hangs outside the temple.
The Deepastambha in the temple quadrangle is also worth a look, it looks beautiful when lit up with lamps.

Some of the other attractions near Bhimashankar which we plan to visit are the Gupt Bhimashankar as well as the Naghphani.
The route to bhimashankar via ganesh ghat is a longer medium graded route, which takes around 4-5 hrs to reach the top.
Shidi ghat is the another way to the top, which is slippery and tough during the rains, and better to be avoided.

planning for the trek will be as follows:
We need to catch Karjat train and get down at the last station. (Train timings will be posted soon.) All participants would get together in the second last compartment of the same train.
Here onwards: karjat to khandas by auto (1 hr)
Trek to the top (~5 hrs)
Lunch (one needs to carry for himself) and then sightseeing,
We plan to cover The Naghphani peak and Gupt Bhimashankar which is a natural shivlinga created by the flow of water.
We would be starting back for Khandas/Karjat on Sunday in the morning after breakfast.

cost for the trek will be Rupees 350/- per head, which includes:
